Health & Wellness Resource

End-of-life care is an important consideration for many families with a loved one facing a terminal illness. Through a special relationship with the Visiting Nurse Association, Heritage House is the home of the VNA's Hospice Care program and inpatient hospice unit operated and staffed by VNA nurses and other medical professionals.

Offering a compassionate and comfortable home-like atmosphere for patients and their families, the unit provides around-the-clock quality and compassionate care in a comprehensive inpatient setting.

Patient stays are generally short-term for symptom management or respite care, although residential care is available for patients who need to remain at the unit for longer periods of time.

Additionally, professionals at Hospice Care of the VNA understand that the bereavement period is a very important aspect of caring for terminally ill patients and their families. For that reason, Hospice Care of the VNA continues to offer follow-up care and support to family members after their loved one has passed away. This grief counseling is available up to a year or more for those family members who request it.
