A HISTORY OF COMPASSION
Heritage House was founded in 1893 for the purpose of providing "food, shelter, clothing and other necessities of life to women who have no home." Although its mission has changed over the years, its focus of providing compassionate, caring services in a comfortable environment has remained a hallmark of care at Heritage House.
Rebuilt at its present location in 1977, and now an affiliate of Wyoming Valley Health Care System, Heritage House was the first retirement community in Northeastern Pennsylvania to provide a full continuum of care for men and women with no entrance or endowment fee.
Today, Heritage House proudly offers each and every resident high quality and comprehensive retirement living services. Whether a resident desires an independent living apartment or requires skilled nursing care, personal care or hospice care, Heritage House provides the health services and accommodations that residents need.
With all the amenities of home, an array of fun activities and specialized services to assist in nearly all aspects of daily living, Heritage House offers a relaxed, comfortable and enjoyable environment for the elderly after retirement.
In addition, Heritage House proudly offers unique services, such as the Transitional Care Unit - for patients who need a level of care in between acute care and home; Wyoming Valley Manor Personal Care and Retirement Center - for residents who require personal assistance living; our Certified Nurse Aide Training Program - an educational program that brings highly qualified professionals to our residents; and a state-of-the-art rehabilitation department for in-house residents as well as for outpatients. In all, Heritage House stands alone as the region's leader in providing comprehensive and quality retirement living services.
